Abstract

Several requests have been received for additional tables to those that appeared in the authors article "Maximum A325 Bolt Loads at a Glance", Engineering Journal, October 1967, page 143. The published tables covered only 3/4- and 7/8-in. diameter bolts, for both single shear and double shear connections. The specific requests were for including the one-inch diameter size bolts and for similar tables using A490 steel bolts. For convenience the original tables are repeated; however, the readers attention is called to the minor adjustments in nearly all bolt loads in order to conform with the more precise allowable bearing values given in the 1969 AISC Specification. The allowable bearing on base material is now
