Abstract

Interest on the part of architects and engineers in the socalled space frame has prompted the preparation of this paper. Its purpose is to present some of the factors to be considered for designing structures of this type. Among these factors are descriptions of various types of space frames, the effect of support locatiosn, the selection and arrangement of chord spacing, web systems, joint details, the collection of loads at support, and the methods available for analysis and design.
